recently a woman (named kelly ramey) found herself the chosen one. the one to find the ever elusive cheeto jesus dubbed by it's discoverer as the one true 'cheesus'. the religious equivalent of finding the golden ticket in a wonka bar! this item is sure to be a future relic at some midwest church... no doubt, due to a shortage of 'real relics'.

ok. I know the old adage is that god works in mysterious ways. but to what end is this mysterious way?

surely we will never know. it could be she was supposed to have eaten it and received marvelous words of wisdom from on high. this could have been to the 21st century what the burning bush was to moses! what good is receiving a 'sign' if you don't plan on reading it?

I notice from the article that there were no comments from frito-lay. I would venture to bet they are looking into using this as a marketing tactic in the bible belt of america. perhaps the tagline 'a jesus in every bag!' scrawled on the package. either way, I am sure they are seeing a spike this week in foods laden with sugar, corn syrup, starch, trans fat, and artificial cheesy goodness.

in the ultimate act of the christian like quality that seems to be the norm for messianic food seekers, she plans to keep cheesus in a safe-deposit box. which brings to mind the parable of the talents, perhaps interestingly enough, told by the very figure who now is represented in a puff of corn starch.

I recently received the following email entitled 'it's the beginning of the end' and went to tell how barack obama has refurbished his campaign airline and, horrors of horrors!, he removed the american flag which was on the tail of the aircraft. the email went on to claim: 'according to snopes.com it's true!' which was followed by this:

'Barack Hussein Obama once again proves he hates America and all she stands for! First it was the lapel flag pin, then it was the not holding his hand over his heart, during the playing of the National Anthem, and NOW he has removed the American Flag from his aircraft!

Time and time again, both Obama and his wife, Michelle show that they are NOT PROUD of America, the very country they want to RUN!!

America, PLEASE WAKE UP!! If Obama gets into office he is going to hand America over to our enemies on a silver platter!!

Barack Obama rec ently finished a $500,000 total overhaul of his 757. And as part of the new design, he decided to remove the American flag from the tail. What American running for President of the United States would remove the symbol of his country? And worse, he replaced the flag with a symbol of himself.

This is not the same as "forgetting" to put your hand over your heart during the national anthem. It is not even the same as wearing or not wearing an American flag lapel pin. It is a conscious, expensive decision to emphasize the importance of self over country.

It is the very essence of arrogance, hubris, and, yes, megalomania.

Well folks. Here you go. This is what we have to look forward too if we as true Americans don't raise our heads and open our eyes.'

this is just fear mongering and pure ignorance.

if anyone took time to read the article at snopes.com, they would find that yes, he refurbished his 757 and put his campaign logo on the tail. the plane still bears the american flag on the fuselage. also, had anyone bothered to read the article at snopes.com, they would see that john mccain doesn’t have a huge american flag emblazoned on his plane tail. and notice that there is NO american flag anywhere on his? hmmmm... where is the outcry for that? what about the fact that mccain has his logo on his plane... a symbol of himself!!!

please stop the stupid train!

bottom line. america is afraid of change. instead of wanting something better for ourselves and our country in the long term, we continue to cling to the past. sure change will be painful for a while... any change is. but if you were given 3 months to live unless you changed your lifestyle, wouldn’t you at least make the effort? even if it meant that there would be some discomfort?

if half the effort that goes into bashing change were put to better more constructive use, we would have a better economy, no world hunger, no war, and energy independence.

don’t take anything you get in email at face value. dig, question, investigate. make your own informed decisions instead of parroting the ideas that are fed to you.

$3.79 for a gallon of gas...

though gas has come down again to around the same as a gallon of milk, I have to say that I am kind of luke-warm about it.

why? you may ask... well my reasoning is two-fold.

first, we have been placated into thinking $3.79 per gallon is cheap. while compared to europe and most other countries this is true... I for one remember when it was $0.89 per gallon (which wasn't as long ago as you may think).

secondly, because the pressure has been alleviated for the time being, we will no longer feel the need to pursue alternative energies, and thus fall behind other world powers as they move forward.

while I feel that the change would to something better would be difficult, it is something that in the long run would be worth the challenge.

the other day I received one of those emails warning on something or other (flavored crystal meth type things). most of the time those emails tend to be false. granted there are a few that are indeed true (few and far between)... and with a little leg work with google and snopes.com you too can find the truth.

look – we are force fed fear every day, and have been conditioned to not function properly unless there is some looming threat on the horizon... and the closer to home the better!

use those emails as an opportunity to hone your nancy drew or hardy boys skills. do a little research and save the email bandwidth for more important things... like ads for 'V1@gra' and lonely housewives 'looking for sex on the side.'
